Susanah gave an insight into the history of the brewery on North Brink, as well as the Elgood family that have run it since 1878.
The brewery known as Elgood’s starts from John Elgood who came from a from a farming and trading family originating in Cransford, Suffolk. In 1878 John Elgood in partnership with George Harrison bought the brewery but were already ahead of the game in promoting heritage by claiming links back to 1785.
Building upon the history written by Nigel Elgood, Susanah gave an illustrated presentation of the brewery here in Wisbech as well as notable Elgood family members.
